4 PARTS OF VERBS
- INFINITIVE – the title of the verb — always has “to” in front of it
* SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE – happening right now or happens continually
* SIMPLE PAST TENSE – happened in the past
* PAST PARTICIPLE – past form that goes with a helping verb

USING THE 4 PARTS
In each sentence below, you have been given the infinitive of each verb. Write the appropriate verb form in the blank. (__No infinitives__, please.)
Here’s where HELPING VERBS come into play:
If there is no helping verb, use the SIMPLE PAST TENSE.
If there is a helping verb, use the PAST PARTICIPAL.
Example: rang Did you say the telephone (to ring) while I was in the shower?
